アメリカのジャズ・フュージョン・テナーサックス奏者。
フュージョン・グループ「クルセイダーズ」の創設メンバー。R&B色の強いサウンドが特徴で、「ジャズ・ロック」「ソウル・ジャズ」「クロスオーバー」「フュージョン」といった言葉のなかった時代に、様々なジャンルの音楽をミックスした革新的なグループであった。
クルセイダーズのベーシスト不在時には代役でベースを担当、その後もサックス奏者ではなくベーシストとして多数の録音に参加した。
