チェコスロバキア出身、アメリカで活躍するキーボーディスト、作曲家。
71年、マハヴィシュヌ・オーケストラに参加。脱退後は主にスタジオ・ミュージシャンとして活動。ジェフ・ベック、アル・ディ・メオラ等のレコーディング、ライブへの参加が有名。リード音でピッチベンドを多用したディストーション・ギターのようなソロを弾くのが特徴。
84年にアメリカの人気テレビドラマ『マイアミ・バイス』の音楽を担当。
