キューバ出身アメリカの歌手。

80年代、夫のエミリオ・エステファンと共にラテン・バンド「マイアミ・サウンド・マシーン」で『Dr.beat』『Conga』などのヒット曲をリリース。

カストロ政権の政治的混乱からの亡命の地としてのマイアミは「ラテン・アメリカの首都」と呼ばれ多種多様な音楽が発展、そのパワーが「マイアミ・サウンド・マシーン」の原動力となった。グロリア・エステファンはポップ・スターとともに政治的なスター歌手でもある。

90年、日本の歌手、松田聖子の全米進出の際、プロデューサーとして曲作りに参加も。
